Gidinwewininaanan, No lang - Call-For-Presentations

Language is the foundation of Indigenous civilizations and cultures. Indigenous peoples
have a strong tradition of oral histories that must be supported by a new respect for, and
understanding of, Indigenous Languages.
As part of The Journey Together, Ontario’s response to the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission (TRC)’s Calls to Action, the “Gidinwewininaanan, No lang” Indigenous
Languages Symposium is being organized by a Planning Committee composed of
Indigenous partners, education stakeholders, and Ministry of Education (EDU) and
Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD) representatives.
The Symposium offers an opportunity for presenters to share knowledge, papers,
research, ideas and successful Indigenous languages practices.
The Symposium will be the first step, in a multi-year ongoing strategy, to implement
Ontario’s plan to support the revitalization of Indigenous Languages. The Symposium
ensures that Indigenous partners and education stakeholders co-develop next steps in
this strategy.
