The Management Services Division provides corporate support to the Economy Sector client group. This group is made up of the ministries of: Jobs, Trade and Technology; Municipal Affairs and Housing; Tourism, Arts and Culture; and Labour. Support services for Destination BC and the Auditor General for Local Government also fall under the Division’s responsibilities.

This position works within the Information Management and Strategic Initiatives work unit, which is part of the Management Services Division and a shared resource for the Economy Sector. This position supports the timely response to access to information requests for the Economy Sector client group.

This position responds to access and privacy requests, working to find practical and equitable solutions within the parameters of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and makes recommendations on the release of information and the protection of privacy for the Economy Sector client group.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly-related discipline and 1 year experience performing analytical work OR;
  • Diploma in Information Management, Public Administration or other directly-related discipline and 2 years’ experience performing analytical work OR;
  • An equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Recent and related experience includes:
    • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies and directives (examples include: policies and laws of the provincial, federal, or municipal governments).
    • Experience in negotiation, mediation, and/or conflict resolution.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have one of more of the following types of experience:
    • Direct experience in interpreting freedom of information /privacy or similar legislation.
    • Experience in managing caseloads.
    • Experience working in a high-volume customer-service environment.
