The Workplace Strategies + Planning (WS+P) department is a unique team of creative design professionals within a government setting focused on bringing new and innovative design ideas to government work environments. The role of the Interior Designer is to provide professional design and project delivery support to the Workplace Planners including space planning, architectural programming, detailed furniture planning and interior design options and specifications for smaller scale projects and/or components of larger projects. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- A degree in architecture or interior design along with an internship / co-op placement / work experience assignment in commercial office planning; or a diploma in interior design along with three years of progressive experience in commercial office planning.
- Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software at an intermediate level including advanced text, tables, layer filters, blocks and attributes. Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with Vectorworks and/or SketchUp.
- Experience engaging and dealing with clients to identify their needs from a design service perspective.
Applicants who move forward to the interview stage of the hiring process may be requested to provide a portfolio of design work (digital or hard-copy) on or before the interview date. Portfolios should include CAD drawings and relevant design work compiled through classroom training and/or work experience.
