The Ministry of Health has overall responsibility for ensuring that quality, appropriate, cost effective and timely health services are available for all British Columbians. The Ministry is responsible for provincial legislation and regulations related to health care, including the Medicare Protection Act and the Health Professions Act. The Ministry also directly manages a number of provincial programs and services, including the Medical Services Plan, PharmaCare and the BC Vital Statistics Agency.

Within the Health Sector Information, Analysis and Reporting Division, the Planning and Corporate Reporting Branch works with senior staff to establish overall Ministry direction and objectives and develops the Ministry’s annual service plan and report as well as health authorities’ planning direction.

In the role of Performance Management Analyst, you will work independently and as part of a dynamic team in the development of a strategic framework for the health system. You will use your communication skills to prepare high quality written materials and presentations, communicating strategic direction and priorities to a wide audience. Your responsibilities will involve working with staff in program areas across the Ministry to establish overall Ministry direction and objectives, formulating an annual Ministry service plan and report. You will also lead the development of health authorities’ planning instructions, review health authorities’ annual service plans and reports, and monitor ministry and health authority activities as required.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, or equivalent field.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with long-term planning, strategic planning, or business analysis in the public or private sector.
  • Experience writing documents and reports for internal and external clients. Preference may be given to applicants with 2 years or more.
  • Experience working effectively on complex projects with senior executives and providing advice and recommendations.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have work experience related to health services.
