Reporting to the Manager – Technical Services, the position will be accountable for the following:
Assist in providing technical advice, direction and related support services to DX lines and Design
Services staff on problems, processes, technical specifications and requirements around operation,
maintenance and limitations of the distribution system.
Assist in the research and development of new technologies from concept to implementation.
Assist in providing assessment, analysis and recommendations associated with distribution lines operation and work activities.
Assist in providing advice, guidance and direction to staff in the resolution of construction standard problems.
Assist in developing assigned work processes, monitoring, evaluating and recommending changes and
improvements to ensure efficient and effective completion of work as required.
Assist in maintaining an awareness of technological advances in work tools, equipment, processes,
databases and practices to enhance work management and execution.
Assist in monitoring in collaboration with Planning and field staff the performance of the distribution
systems with respect to reliability, standards, work methods and equipment performance; identify
problems, issues and opportunities.
Assist in the establishment and promoting the understanding and use of policies, processes, standards,
criteria and work methods.
Assist in providing advice, direction and approve as necessary lines electrical clearance measurements
and corresponding line ratings.
Must have a sound knowledge of designs, standards and technical requirements & specifications related
to distribution systems.
Must have experience in standards development and review process.
Must have a sound knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply these.
Must have knowledge of utility practices and operation of distribution networks.
Must have ability to undertake in depth technical studies with guidance and subject matter expert support.
Must have University training in Electrical or Civil Engineering
Must have ability to achieve Professional Engineering License in the province of Ontario.
Must have experience with technology especially related to computer, distribution equipment, data
collection, databases and reporting systems.
Must be able to work independently.
