Job Description:

  • Prepare dough and other components for bread and sweet goods according to recipes or special customer orders.
  • Bake mixed dough and batters.
  • Requisition or order materials and supplies in collaboration with Chef.
  • Prepare dishes for customers, accommodating food allergies or intolerances as directed by Chef.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.
  • Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards.
  • Inspect kitchen and food service areas.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Plan menus and determine size of portions.
  • Follow recipes accurately as outlined by Chef.
  • Coordinate timing of dish completion with other cooks, as directed by Chef.
  • Store or dispose of all unused items.
  • Mark and date all stored food.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain equipment.
  • Clean and maintain a pristine work area.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Ontario Health and Safety Standards.

Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school is required

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional baking experience is required. In the event that the candidate does not have 3 years of experience then completion of a three- or four-year apprenticeship program for bakers or completion of a college or other program for bakers is required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment, Hand-eye co-ordination, Handling heavy loads (Up to 13.5 kg. i.e. 30 lbs), Manual dexterity, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Standing for extended periods, Tight deadlines, Work under pressure

Salary: $22.00 hourly, 30-44 Hours per week.

Important information: Flexibility in schedule is required. Position requires extended work hours, including evening, night, weekend, and holidays as needed. The candidate will work 8 to 10 hours a day within the rotational shifts that are available from 10:00 AM up to 1:00 AM.
