Working as part of the Business Intelligence team at the BC Public Service Agency, you will play a key role in supporting the information needs of Executive Talent Management.  The Business Intelligence team is responsible for the aggregation, storage and secure access of human resources data in the Agency’s data warehouse.  The team’s role is to support evidence-based business decisions for planning, research, resource allocation and administration of human resources data, working in collaboration with agency lines of business, executive, Ministry Strategic Human Resource partners and external stakeholders.

Working in the Executive Talent Management Branch, the Data Analyst maintains confidential talent and position data related to executive talent and talent pipeline. The role is responsible for designing, analyzing and delivering databases, responding to reporting and analytics requirements, providing technical guidance and developing approaches to improve access to data and analytics.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, business or equivalent (related fields include business administration, business analysis, etc.) with experience in reporting, analytics; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in data extraction and analysis in a data warehouse environment generating, testing, quantitative, analytical reports, preferably with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack.
  • Experience in data modelling, report design and applying business analysis techniques. Preference may be given to applicants with extensive experience working with Tableau. Preference may also be given to applicants with experience with Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate data design, data management principles, structured analysis and design.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development or system programming experience, whether web based (JavaScript), or statistics (R, Python) and a strong understanding of SQL
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working with HR Information Systems, or with large enterprise resource planning tools such as PeopleSoft.
  • Preference may be given to those with business analysis or equivalent experience, strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Preference may be given to experience in a corporate services human resources model.
