Senior Manager, Finance and Administration
Management Band 3

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Highway Department consists of approximately 1,100 staff in 30 communities throughout BC, working every day to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operations of the highway network. The Highways Department is responsible for all aspects of the provincial highway system, including: Maintaining and Operating Highways, Highway Rehabilitation and Preservation, Highway Expansion and Upgrading, Emergency Response, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement and Development Approvals and Permits.

The Senior Manager of Finance and Administration leads the Headquarters team and coordinates the three regional finance teams, which serve the department’s employees. The Senior Manager provides strategic financial advice to the Associate Deputy Minister and the department’s executive; leads the department’s budget development, financial reporting and analyses; and, develops and implements budgets and financial plans with the regional finance managers. This position also coordinates the department’s reporting to the Ministry and manages the department’s records management team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Professional accounting designation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference may be given to candidates with a professional accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial management experience including budget development, analysis, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience advising a diverse portfolio of clients in a customer service environment.
  • Experience with issues management and strategic problem solving, providing leadership, expertise and advice to senior or executive management teams, staff and stakeholders.
  • Preference for supervisory experience.
