The Policing and Security Branch is part of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. The branch assumes responsibility for ensuring the security and economic vitality of British Columbia’s communities through effective policing and security.

Program Managers in the Standards and Evaluation Unit play pivotal roles in the oversight of provincial law enforcement by developing legally binding Provincial Policing Standards that govern the efficient and effective delivery of policing in British Columbia, and inspecting and evaluating compliance with those standards.   The work of the Program Managers ensures police standards are developed in consultation with key stakeholders, using robust methodology, and are responsive to emerging issues in policing.  Particular emphasis is placed on aspects of policing that raise critical public policy questions.  The work of the Program Managers ensures that the Ministry sets policy direction and accountability mechanisms for high risk areas of policing.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • University degree in public policy, law, public administration or political science plus considerable progressively responsible related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Related experience must include: researching, analyzing, developing and delivering complex policy initiatives or program reforms, working with teams and committees and developing and providing options and policy recommendations to enable decisions.
  • Recent, progressively-responsible management experience in the development and administration of major programs.
  • Recent, related experience in research and analysis, policy development, evaluation methods with preferred related experienced in police services.
  • Experience in engaging diverse stakeholders to gain commitment to integrated solutions and in representing an organization and establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Experience leading, planning, coordinating and managing complex projects and work assignments, facilitating issues in a highly sensitive environment and setting priorities between high profile and competing needs.
