The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) leads strategy, policy and standards for telecommunications, information technology, IT security and the management of the IM/IT investment portfolio for the Province.  The OCIO is accountable for the operation of a broad government technology infrastructure as a key enabler in support of business transformation for Government, Broader Public Sector organizations (BPS) and through participation inter-jurisdictionally on initiatives to evolve technology and business.

The Hosting Administrators’ Office (Hosting AO), a branch within OCIO-Enterprise Services, oversees the management of a long term alternative service delivery agreement with ESIT Advanced Solutions (formerly HP Advanced Solutions Inc.) for managed hosting and data centre services.  The computing infrastructure (e.g. servers, storage, back-up, mainframe, security) and related services delivered under this agreement is core to the delivery of applications from all ministries in government.  Further, services from this agreement are also available for consumption by the BPS and there are a number of BPS organizations currently consuming services under the deal.

As the Director Strategic Initiatives, you will provide leadership in an IM/IT environment for planning, performance management, communications and project management.  This role will also lead key initiatives in support of contract and procurement activities associated with the potential renewal or procurement of hosting services.  In addition to engaging a broad range of ministry and internal OCIO stakeholders, this role will also interface with broader public sector (BPS) entities and the current service provider.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Technology or related field plus 5 years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered which includes:
    • Related Diploma (e.g. Business Administration) and 7 years of related experience.
    • Related Certificate (e.g. Business Administration) and 8 years of related experience.

Related experience is to include the following:

  • Experience in planning and performance management in an IM/IT environment.
  • Experience leading communications and stakeholder engagement in an IM/IT environment.
  • Experience leading a major project or sub-project for a major initiative in an IM/IT environment.

Preferred experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience in procurement or vendor management in an IM/IT environment.
  • Experience managing application hosting services as either a provider of hosting services or as a client consuming hosting services to support applications and workloads.
  • Experience in the planning and implementation of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS or SaaS)
