Corporate Services for the Natural Resource Ministries (CSNR) operates within a government shared-services delivery model providing corporate services to the five Natural Resource Ministries (NRMs).  The ministries are: Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR); Agriculture (AGRI); Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (EMPR); Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV); and Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development (FLNRORD).

The Executive Director, People and Workplace Strategies will provide strategic vision and lead the development and implementation of strategic HR initiatives that align with ministry, Natural Resource Ministries (NRMs), and corporate-wide business objectives. It will advise deputy ministers, assistant deputy ministers, and senior government officials across the four Natural Resource Ministries the branch supports on strategic HR initiatives, tools, and projects, and provides a strategic HR perspective on policies, programs and long-range planning.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • A master’s degree in human resources, public administration, business administration, operations management or a related discipline and a minimum of three years related* experience, OR
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, business administration, operations management or a related discipline and a minimum of five years related* experience, OR
  • A diploma in human resources, public administration, business administration, operations management or a related discipline and a minimum of seven years related* experience, OR
  • A minimum of eight years related* experience.

*Related experience must include the following:

  • Experience in all or most of the following; human resource management, succession planning, leading change, performance management, project development and implementation, and complex problem resolution.
  • Experience with significant organizational change and continuous improvement projects and initiatives for an organization of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience with strategic and business planning and aligning business plans with human resource plans.
  • Experience providing direct supervision to a team of professional employees.
  • Experience managing financial resources including budgets, forecasts, contracts and expenditures.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
