This competition is for two Band 4 positions within Procurement Services Branch. Each position has a different portfolio and related job description, but the desired competencies are very similar.

  • Senior Director, Information Management Information Technology (IMIT) Procurement
  • Senior Director, eProcurement and Sourcing Solutions

Attached job descriptions describe current state and it is worth noting that the Division is beginning a modernization project that will change the nature of these roles in the near future. Your strong leadership and knowledge is required to help us complete this transformation.

This is an exciting time in the Procurement and Supply Division, we have recently launched a new Procurement Strategy and are focused on modernizing our service delivery framework. We are looking for dynamic collaborative leaders to help shape our future.

As a professional experienced in strategically leading teams, you will be designing and executing procurement strategies in a fast-paced innovative environment with lots of interesting problems to solve. Procurement projects are typically multi-faceted, cross corporate and divisional boundaries, involve multiple stakeholders, and may include alternate service delivery (outsourcing), program changes, and service transformation. There is a significant need to provide leadership and development to your respective teams as you guide the design and overall quality of services being provided.

In this role you will be working collaboratively with your clients across government to deliver best value to the citizens of British Columbia. Partners include, but are not limited to, the Legal Services Branch, Risk Management Branch, Finance, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Supply and the Strategic Partnership Office.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, computer science or an equivalent combination of senior procurement experience and education or professional certification.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience managing high value complex procurement projects from initial planning through to contract drafting.  OR
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated experience leading complex service-oriented organizations that support multiple disciplinary teams and internal and external stakeholders/partners
  • Experience must include:
    • leading and/or managing process improvement.
    • leading a team through change, motivating and driving performance.
    • Project management.
  • Prefer experience with strategic business planning and with budget management.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered such as a Certified Public Procurement Officer or Certified Professional Purchase certification, plus experience.
