The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training provides leadership and direction for post-secondary education and skills training systems in British Columbia as well as labour market information and programs.

The Workforce Innovation and Skills Training Division is made up of a client-focused team that provides strategy and data-driven advice to the Premier, Minister and senior executive across a broad range of labour market and immigration issues, ultimately to guide government’s role and contribution in managing British Columbia’s number one asset – the hard work, ingenuity and skills of its people. We have a talented and dedicated team with a diverse set of skills, ranging from policy, statistical analysis, program management, web development and marketing that are all deployed to maximize every potential match between workers and employers.

The Executive Director leads governance and supports the Minister’s oversight of the BC’s trades training system through the Industry Training Authority (ITA) and oversees the Sector Labour Market Partnerships Program (SLMP) which provides $6 million funding annually to help labour market sectors strategically respond to workforce development factors. The SLMP program includes labour market research; strategic workforce planning; and implementation and evaluation of initiatives to address workforce issues. The Executive Director oversees the Division’s corporate services, including strategic planning for new business solutions across the Division; budgeting, forecasting and assurance reviews and provides financial advice, accounting services and support across the Division; coordinates cross-Division corporate activities; and leads cross-government, intergovernmental relations (including Indigenous relations), a broad range of stakeholder relations, and issues management.
