The Financial and Corporate Services Division supports Ministry program delivery by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate issues. Within Finance and Decision Support is the Facilities Management and Support Services responsible for creating and maintaining an inviting, efficient, effective and safe physical work environment for staff.
The Building Maintenance Worker contributes to the safe and attractive workplace by assembling, repairing and moving office furniture and cabinets and conducting minor repairs on equipment that keep the Ministry functioning from day-to-day. As a maintenance generalist, the Building Maintenance Worker ensures that all equipment and facilities are operational and that tasks not otherwise performed by trades or contracted services are carried out quickly and at minimum cost. This role requires strong technical and operational abilities, including general repair know-how. Highly organized, you can capably prioritized your workload to meet service request deadlines. You are customer service oriented and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in interacting with your clients. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Grade 12 Graduation or equivalent.
- Experience in general maintenance and repair of office furnishing and equipment. Preference may be given to applicants with 2 years’ experience.
- Experience conducting fleet vehicle maintenance, e.g.: wiper installation, windshield fluid top up, and changing tires.
- Experience using power hand tools. Preference may be given to candidates with experience using the following:
- Table Saw
- Drill Press
- Belt Sander
- High volume shredder
- Power Drill
- Power Screwdriver
- Experience delivering excellent customer service, including interacting positively with customers and providing timely response to service requests.
- Possess valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Lift furniture and equipment, parcels or paper stock up to 32 kg per piece.
- Move furniture and equipment.
- Crawl under desks, e.g.: to conduct installations and various minor repairs.
