Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Planner (15 month contract)

The BC/DR Planner will be responsible to assist the Sr. Manager, BC/DR in completing the required work outline in the Statement of Work (SOW) to meet our contractual requirements to the client.  This will include working with the agile teams to complete BIAs, RIAs, DRPs, BCP, RETAs, and exercises, as required.

The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced multi-initiative environment while meeting documented target dates.

This is a 15 month contract position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist/Guide the development and/or enhancement of Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plans focusing on the requirements of the client and industry standards
  • Facilitating/Participating in meetings with the cross functional teams, or the business and technical owners, as required
  • Assist in the completion of the required BIAs and RIAs
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and reporting of the required BC and DR exercises
  • Assist in developing and managing the BCM Roadmap to ensure all tasks, activities and target dates are being met and identify any risks or gaps to completing those items
  • Updating the BCM Risk Register and/or BCM Issues Log as risk/gaps are identified
  • Assist with the weekly and bi-weekly project reporting requirements
  • Other initiatives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in technology, business, finance, or related discipline, with a focus on IT technologies and practices;
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a strong background in delivering business continuity and disaster recovery services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Kanban practices
  • Knowledgeable in current business/disaster recovery standards and best practices
  • Knowledgeable in current IT trends and technologies, specifically in the Microsoft technology suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Integrity, sound judgment, and decision making ability
  • Must be a team player, have the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to adapt to change
  • Certification or designation by industry recognized organizations such as DRI or BCI
  • Working knowledge of ITIL and Change Management would be an asset
