Serving the Justice and Public Safety Sector (JPSS), the Corporate Management Services Branch (CMSB) strives to provide excellence in corporate services and partner in the outcomes of both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General. CMSB provides central corporate services to all staff and branches/programs in the JPSS. We lead the preparation of budget submissions and financial reporting, and provide oversight, progress reports, and expert advice while performing day to day functions for our clients related to finances, strategic human resources, facilities (including Shared Services), and corporate risk and security.
The Corrections Branch plays a leading role in the criminal justice system by protecting the community through offender management and control. Adult Custody is one of two divisions of the Corrections Branch. Adult Custody provides custodial supervision for adults sentenced to incarceration and those remanded to custody.
Under the direction of the Director, Business and Finance, the Business Office Manager is responsible for supervising the daily accounting and administrative operations of the business office. This includes trust accounting, payroll, accounts payable, records management, work programs, inmate benefit funds, contract monitoring, facilities and asset administration. Along with your superb communication and interpersonal skills, you have excellent knowledge of general office systems and procedures, and word processing.
Qualifications for this role include:
⦁ Grade 12 or equivalent
⦁ Prefer nationally recognized courses in Accounting or Payroll.
⦁ Prefer completion of a degree or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
⦁ A minimum of five (5) years related experience in the following areas: accounts payable, accounts receivable or payroll. Preference given to a combination of experience with payroll. Exposure to budgeting and trust accounting is an asset.
⦁ 2 years Supervisory experience with preference given to candidates with 5 or more years’ experience. All relevant experience to have been gained within the last eight (8) years.
⦁ Experience working in complex computer environments should include: Microsoft office – spreadsheets, word processing and other standard computer applications.
⦁ Experience in BC Corrections with Cornet Trust Accounting, Time and Leave, and ORACLE (CAS) preferred
