Position Summary
Interior Health is looking for a project position full time Buyer to join their team at the Kelowna Community Health & Services Centre Interior Health. This position is until April 30th, 2021.

The Buyer purchases a variety of supplies, services and equipment by selecting Suppliers, negotiating prices and delivery dates and approving purchase orders. Issues tender documents for a variety of supplies, services and equipment, awards contracts in conjunction with User Departments from various sites within the Region.
Some typical duties and responsibilities include:

• Reviews all purchase requisitions and consults with User Departments from various Sites regarding requirements, e.g. specifications, quantity, quality, pricing and delivery dates. Recommends Suppliers and/or substitute Suppliers to improve delivery and costs.

• Contacts Suppliers for information such as price, delivery dates, etc. and places order.

• Prepares specifications, terms and conditions for the formal tendering of supplies, services and equipment. In consultation with the Manager and Regional Director, analyzes quotations from Suppliers and issues contract documents.

• Performs a variety of expediting duties such as monitoring delivery dates, late deliveries and related discrepancies.

• Works with all User Departments from various Sites in obtaining specific product information and costs.

• Maintains sources of supply and interview’s Supplier’s representatives.

• Updates files and dictionaries in the computerized Material Management Module as required.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12 supplemented by recognized purchasing courses, plus 5 year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
