The Campus Recruiter contributes to BMO success as a key member of the Campus Recruitment & Early Talent team. Accountable to develop and implement a recruitment strategy that is aligned with BMO’s employment brand and will build upon BMO’s reputation as Employer of Choice.

This role ensures that consistent, high quality recruiting practices are used, and reflect positively on BMO’s competitive position in the marketplace for top talent. The role will enable the attraction of diverse talent into the organization and develop multiple talent pipelines for BMO lines of business through internships, direct hires, career programs, job readiness training programs, etc.

This role will also partner with external organizations through presentations, focus group meetings, and special events in order to build deep and lasting relationships that are a key pipeline for early-talent roles for BMO.

The Campus Recruiter is responsible for identifying business needs, building business-centric strategies and plans, and successfully executing. The role requires in-depth knowledge of campus recruiting practices and a commitment to identifying and executing differentiating tactics and strategies. Due to the interdependent nature of recruiting activities across LOBs and enterprise priorities (e.g. campus), the Campus Recruiter must build strong relationships and work effectively with their peers (i.e., other Campus Recruiters, Recruitment Partners, Talent Acquisition Partners, etc.) in order to build and deliver a seamless and aligned recruitment experience across the organization.

Responsibilities: 

Relationship Management:

  • Drive strong relationships in order to promote and expand our the BMO campus profile (internally and externally)
  • Utilize a trust-based recruiting model that is anticipatory and integrated
  • Liaise with relevant HR Business Partners, Talent Management & Diversity colleagues, HR & Learning colleagues and recruiters

Strategic Design & Implementation:

  • Work with Senior Manager – Campus Recruitment  to design and implement a best-in-class campus recruiting strategy to support human capital requirements and growth strategies based on business needs
  • Understand business requirements and intake specifications to ensure that all initiatives and activities are aligned to the needs of the business and delivering expected outcomes
  • Ensure that our Employment Brand and Employee Value proposition is appropriately positioned within the context of all our activities
  • Ensure that diversity is embedded into all campus recruitment initiatives
  • Recommend strategies and tactics that are integrated, flexible, targeted, and relationship-based
  • Develop active pipelines for key roles to meet ongoing business needs

 Requisition & Recruitment Management Process: 

  • Execute recruitment activities (develop and maintain various recruiting initiatives to identify candidates for open roles and build pipelines for potential hires)
  • Execute reporting and monitoring mechanisms that track the progress and overall effectiveness of our programs, initiatives, and activities
  • Maintain the reputation and attractiveness of our programs, initiatives, and activities including having  a thorough understanding of the competitive marketplace, competitive positioning and knowledge of business requirements
  • Act as a subject matter expert for recruitment best practices based on your segment(s), maintaining quality benchmarks, processes and standards
  • Manage the candidate and hiring manager experience in the ATS throughout the requisition stages
  • Investigate, resolve and follows-up regarding any ATS and reporting issues or errors
  • Support the team with special projects & process recommendations

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure requisitions meet all compliance standards to mitigate BMO’s risk, which includes all roles posted include the appropriate taglines and correct approvals.
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of First Principles in our code of Business Conduct and Ethics
  • Follow established standards and governance for the candidate database, including the relationship management and contact standards, ensuring privacy of information and a systematic approach for recommending candidates for specific roles

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree and campus recruitment experience is required, preferably in a competitive market place
  • Broad knowledge of BMO Financial Group’s business strategy and priorities, lines of business and their unique talent needs, products and services, and key partners
  • Solid understanding of the organization’s recruitment policies, process and standards
  • Deep understanding of the diversity landscape and recruitment practices
  • Knowledge of products, services, and technical skills based on specific segment requirements
  • Superior communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact at the executive, senior management, and non-executive levels of the organization and to deal effectively with external clients
  • Energetic, motivated, solutions-oriented to attract and retain high performing talent
  • Comfortable working at both the conceptual and the hands-on level
  • High degree of initiative combined with analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail; very organized
  • Strong negotiation, impact and influencing skills

Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel and work during peak campus recruiting times.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and priorities in a fast paced/high volume recruitment environment
