Cancer is complex.  It touches all Canadians, in communities across all of Canada.  To beat it, will require a team effort; it will require partnership.

For the past ten years, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer together with Canada’s cancer community and people affected by cancer have worked together to implement the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control and to deliver on three shared goals: Fewer people developing cancer.  Fewer people dying from cancer. Better quality of life for those affected by the disease.  While much has been accomplished, there is still work ahead.

As the Partnership’s next CEO, you will play a critical role in serving and supporting the work of its partners across the country.  You will create a compelling and bold vision with ambitious targets that its staff, partners and governments can rally around.  As a trusted and respected partner, you will support and accelerate change and measurable impact by building, strengthening and leveraging relationships that are built on mutual trust, respect and transparency.  You will be an inspirational and influential voice, demonstrating the humility, attitude, enthusiasm, passion and commitment that will energize and motivate staff, communities, governments and partners across Canada, including our northern, rural and First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.

As the ideal candidate, you are an exceptional leader who builds and nurtures exceptional teams. You are a highly effective communicator and public speaker who can clearly articulate and translate a range of key messages to partners, clinicians, academics, researchers, governments, policy makers, elected officials, media, the public, etc. A consensus-oriented decision maker, you confidently make informed decisions based on experience, evidence and sound analysis. Peers applaud your ability to drive and promote real, quantifiable impact at a systems level and your skills in convening, framing and facilitating complex discussions in a multi-stakeholder environment.  Your ability to communicate in both official languages will be an asset in this national role, as will your knowledge of health care and your experience interacting with governments at the federal, provincial and territorial levels.
