About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with strong business acumen and political sensitivity to join our team in Ucluelet, British Columbia.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will manage the Finance Department and staff, and all financial and accounting activities including cash receipting,
cash flow management, income/revenue control, purchasing, banking, short and long term debt management, accounts payable and receivable, contractual administration, investments, asset management, payroll, and benefits administration.
Working across all departments, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Providing leadership, direction, and technical support to the Executive Council in the planning, management, and reporting of the financial affairs of the Government
Providing regular and special financial reports to the Executive Council on the financial operation of the Executive Council and the Entities
Providing support to the Executive Council, in the orientation of new members of the Executive Council and participating in meetings of the Executive Council, as requested
Working with the staff members and providing mentorship
Planning for the introduction of Property Tax in 2019
Maintaining knowledge of laws and regulations
Working with auditors
Completing financial reporting, including actual analysis to budget, follow-up, and corrective action
The Ideal Candidate
For this role, we are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Commerce or a related discipline and 6 – 8 years of accounting and financial experience, with 2 – 3 years in a senior financial management role. You must also have your CPA/CGA/CA Designation.
Most importantly, you must be an excellent communicator and have demonstrated leadership experience. Comfortable with change and ambiguity, you can adapt quickly and positively to shifting priorities while still maintaining your steadfast drive and focus.
