Full Time  Position (1-year contract)

Children and Youth Social Worker

As a fully accredited community health centre, Anishnawbe Health Toronto offers access to health care practitioners from many disciplines including Traditional Healers, Elders and Medicine People. We require a Children and Youth Social Worker in a one-year contract position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The social worker will provide children/youth and adults with assessment and therapeutic treatment, case management, counseling, advocacy, groups
  • Complete electronic charting on all clients’ records and service statistics; maintaining appropriate progress reports and ensuring clients records are up to date
  • Supervision of a data base system ensuring that information is collected, recorded, maintained and monitored for quality assurance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MSW; or BSW with experience working with Aboriginal populations
  • Registered with the College Of Social Work
  • Ability to work within a fast paced and multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Knowledge and appreciation of societal issues and underlying health problems in the Aboriginal community, for example the intergenerational effects of the post-colonial and residential school experiences
  • Computer literacy including skill with word processing, presentations and electronic charting software
  • Ability to function independently and within established parameters
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture is an asset
