Position Summary: The Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle is currently accepting applications for the position of Circle of Care Program Assistant North in Sudbury.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Coordinator to implement the Circle of Care Program model in the north. This Assistant will work closely with the Coordinator to plan, deliver, and follow up with community foot care events. They will network with IDHC staff, diabetes education programs, community partners, service providers, and relevant stakeholders for the northern outreach services.


  • University/ College Degree and or 2 years + experience in administrative duties
  • Established and proven record as a dependable and competent person
  • a basic knowledge of computer and cellphone operation, which may include but not limited to: laptop, printer, photocopier, scanner, projector, cell phone, tablet
  • a solid grasp with software such as: Microsoft Office, in particular: word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), email (Outlook) and Power Point.

(aptitude in graphic work and social media might also be considered an asset)

  • Co-operative, conscientious, and reliable, with strong skills in planning and work organization
  • Knowledge of, or background in Indigenous Organizations, Indigenous health, Diabetes and foot care is an asset
  • Experience with public speaking, presentations and workshop facilitation is considered an asset
  • General knowledge of finances and budget tracking
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities and culture is considered an asset
  • Must be able to lift and transport large display boards and resources
  • Able to travel, evenings and weekends occasionally, with valid drivers’ license and insurance, CPIC required

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in coordinating IDHC Foot Care events throughout Northern Ontario
  • Perform pre outreach logistical planning with Program Coordinator
  • Collaborate with all key players while planning and during all events
  • Set-up/tear down of event clinics, liaise with host, registrations, evaluations, travel
  • Share educational information and resources on diabetes and foot care to Indigenous communities and individuals
  • Process northern payables while adhering to program’s approval criteria and maintaining confidentiality
  • Maintain and update budget tracker with program finances
  • Maintain northern resource inventory for northern events
  • Work with program suppliers to replenish northern equipment and resources
  • Assist Coordinator in creating and updating northern service provider files
  • Update the northern service directory with new contacts and health service providers
  • Share future outreach services and relevant information to TK Program
  • Preforming administrative duties, data base, calendar updates, activity reports
  • Attend biweekly team meeting and staff meetings as required
  • Represent IDHC at all functions in a professional manner and with respect to our mandate, mission statement and values
  • Preform other duties and responsibilities that may be designated by the Circle of Care Coordinator

  • Good conduct and standard or professionalism at work in representation of IDHC
  • Adhere to Policies and Procedures as set by the IDHC

Supervision: The Southern Circle of Care Assistant will be under the supervision of the Circle of Care Coordinator and the Program Director.
