The Financial and Administration Services Branch (FASB) of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR) is mandated with the provision of accounting services designed to ensure proper financial controls are being maintained, reporting requirements met and payments processed both correctly and on time.

Under supervision of the Team Leader, the Accounts Analyst supports the above mandate by reviewing and maintaining an array of financial documentation and processing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with a variety of legislation (Financial Administration Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Collections Act, BC Benefits Act, Employment and Assistance Act and Treasury Board Orders) central agency and ministerial program/financial regulations, policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.  Preference may be given for post-secondary certification or course work related to finance, accounting or bookkeeping.
  • A minimum of 1 year financial experience including the processing of financial transactions. Preference may be given for 2 or more years of experience.
  • Experience tracking, reviewing and correcting financial transactions.
  • Experience using a computerized financial system in a highly computerized work environment.
  • Experience with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Preference may be given for government accounting experience and CAS (Corporate Accounting System) experience.
