Client Services Assistant
Clerk 09R

This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future permanent and/or temporary vacancies in the following locations: Cranbrook, Castlegar, Nelson and Revelstoke.
Three positions are currently available: 1 regular, full time position in both Cranbrook and Nelson; 1 regular, part-time [.6] position in Revelstoke.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development works collaboratively with ministries involved in the management of natural resources to coordinate people and resources to provide exceptional service to the public. The Ministry assists clients through its office reception interface and through FrontCounter BC service counters, which simplifies the process for citizens and natural resource businesses who are seeking information or authorizations to utilize crown natural resources.

An organized worker, you independently manage your own workload while taking into consideration changing priorities, tight deadlines, volume of work and available resources. You are also a skilled information gatherer, able to use the internet, industry databases and other sources to retrieve information and provide relevant findings. A highly effective communicator with conflict resolution skills, you  analyze client information and deal with sensitive issues in a calm, productive manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a professional office and/or high volume customer service environment.
  • Experience/training in word processing, spreadsheet and other standard computer applications.

Preference may be given for one or more of the following:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with the public in a service quality environment with some financial experience handling cash.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining policies and/or regulations to clients/customers.
  • Experience with web-based programs.
  • Experience working in the natural resource sector.
  • Experience dealing with cash transactions and other point of sales devices, credit cards or similar.
