Financial Services and Quality Assurance, within the branch of Corporate Operational Support, provides accounting services to the Ministry of Children and Family Development Service Delivery’s 188 Offices throughout the province.

This department is a high volume area, responsible for the development and implementation of all planning systems, policies and procedures to ensure that proper financial control is maintained, reporting requirements are met and payments are processed correctly and on time, utilizing a variety of financial systems including CSAS, MIS/RAP and CAS Oracle.

As a Finance Clerk, you will analyze, verify, calculate and process direct financial transactions and other complex documents which result in issuance of payments. These documents include supplier contracts and payment requests from a variety of field staff administered programs, as well as legislated payments and contracts. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, you capably perform a variety of accounting duties including preparing complex reconciliations, processing direct invoices and recurring monthly payments, as well as service provider and provincial grant payments.

An effective communicator and strong team player, you also provide information on document preparation and other accounts payable issues to ministry staff and suppliers.  You possess excellent computer skills, utilizing a wide variety of standard computer applications and financial systems to carry out your work, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all work is accurate and completed on time.

Job Requirements: 

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years clerical/administrative support experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in Accounts Payable.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience using computerized systems and software such as internet-based applications and financial applications.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.


  • Preference may be given to applicants who have completed post-secondary courses in accounting.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have completed post-secondary courses in business.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have 4 or more years of experience in Accounts Payable.

  •  Will be required to travel.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s licence.
