The Corrections Branch plays a leading role in the criminal justice system by protecting the community through offender management and control. The Branch manages community work service and supports offenders to make positive changes in their behaviour and attitudes

There are three Financial Clerk positions, Inmate Trust, Payroll, and Accounts Payable and incumbents may rotate through each position. The details of the Inmate Trust, Payroll, and Accounts Payable positions and their associated duties are listed herein. The incumbents in this position as required may rotate through a variety of tasks in support of the business office including: entering invoices for payment, collecting monies, entering leave management transactions for employees, and providing trust account services to incarcerated inmates

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Grade 12 plus 3 years of combined financial work experience, education and/or training in an administrative/clerical role (within last five years).
  • Experience with MS Office computer applications: Word and Excel.
  • Experience with a computer based financial system.
  • Experience handling cash transactions.

Preference may be given to those with:

  • CAS, TOL, and/or CORNET experience.
  • Experience working in a Correctional Centre
  • Experience with Provincial Government Trust or Revenue Accounting.
  • Experience with BC Government Finance and Administrative Policies and Procedures.
