This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future similar permanent and/or temporary vacancies in Campbell River.
Two positions are currently available: one permanent, full time position and one temporary opportunity until January 1, 2020. The temporary opportunity may be extended and/or become permanent.
Applicants are not limited to the geographic area, however board, lodging and relocation expenses do not apply for the temporary opportunity.
We are also establishing an eligibility list for Resource and Contract Administrators in our Campbell River Office via Requisition 58941.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations works collaboratively with ministries involved in the management of natural resources to coordinate people and resources to provide exceptional service to the public. The Ministry assists clients through its FrontCounter BC service counters, which simplifies the process for citizens and natural resource businesses who are seeking information or authorizations to utilize crown natural resources.

As the Program Assistant, you are the front line contact for the district and BC Timber Sales and are expected to be knowledgeable and customer service oriented. This position provides reception; administrative support, including for contract and tenure management; assets and facilities management; financial management; and is responsible for client services.

A confident self-starter, you perform your duties with a high degree of initiative, flexibility and efficiency. Strong service orientation and the ability to multi-task are essential to this role. You enjoy being a positive team member and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with your co-workers. Your experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools and a keen desire to complete high quality work enables you to provide superior public service.

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent. Preference may be given for a certificate [or higher] in a related field [such as office/business or public administration, etc.].
  • Recent [within the last 5 years] experience providing front-line service in an office setting or high volume customer service environment.
  • Experience working with computer systems and associated software programs such as MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Preference may be given for recent [within the past 5 years] experience in one or more of the following:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with the public in a service quality environment with some financial experience handling cash.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining policies and/or regulations to clients/customers.
  • Experience with web-based programs.
  • Experience working in the natural resource sector.
  • Experience dealing with cash transactions and other point of sale devices, credit cards or similar.
