Who we are:

Supporting both the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR) and the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), the Information Systems Division (ISD) provides strong information management and information technology (IM/IT) resource planning, decision making, project and issues management, security and privacy functions, and desktop support. The Finance team adds value by assisting ISD’s stakeholders to meet their strategic goals and operational plans in compliance with relevant financial legislation, regulations, central agency directives, and government financial priorities.

Role accountabilities:
The Jr. Financial Analyst, reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration, provides accounts payable, contract cost tracking, and reconciliation support for ISD. This role includes gathering, compiling, and reporting on the program’s financial information; working closely with the accounts payable and banking teams researching payments, contacting vendors and identifying overdue contract billings; responding to enquiries from suppliers, management and staff; and ensuring payment activities are undertaken in accordance with established policies and procedures, and the Financial Administration Act. You will also research, analyse, verify and assess accuracy of information and processes and resolve or escalate problems.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent.
  • A minimum one (1) year experience working in an account’s payable environment. Preference may be given for applicants with three (3) or more years of experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other standard computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook/email).

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience completing general ledger or sub general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Experience with enterprise wide financial software such as a corporate accounting system (CAS, Microsoft Dynamic, or any other large accounting software systems).
