This is a temporary opportunity until July 10, 2020.

Contribute to the administration of justice in a diverse legal environment

The Legal Services Branch has responsibility for advising the BC Government, its ministers and officials on all matters of law.  Each legal practise within the Branch, having specialized and unique accountabilities, works as a team to support the Attorney General in his role as the Official Legal Advisor to Government.

This position provides legal secretarial and administrative support to the Articling Student Committee, the Articled Student Program and the articled students.  In addition, this position provides secretarial and administrative support to the Professional Development Committee.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED); AND
  • A minimum of four years satisfactory experience in a stenographic/secretarial position in a legal environment or its equivalent; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Keyboarding speed of 50 words per minute.
  • One year of experience working in a legal office.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working in a legal office environment, particularly working in Small Claims or litigation generally
  • Experience working on committees (taking & preparing minutes, preparing agendas)
  • Experience assisting hiring panels
  • A post-secondary certificate in a related field
