Conservation Officer Service Administrative Assistant

1 part time position available (0.65 FTE, or approximately 22.75 hours per week)

The Ministry of Environment’s Conservation Officer Service core business areas are to enforce natural resource laws and respond to wildlife conflicts, to protect human health and safety, the environment, personal and public property, and general revenue. Program responsibilities include providing compliance and enforcement services for various programs in the Ministry and other Ministries to ensure the sustainable use of B.C.’s natural resources.

You are a skilled information gatherer, able to use the internet, industry databases and other sources to retrieve information and provide relevant findings. A highly effective communicator with conflict resolution skills, you analyze client information and deal with sensitive issues in a calm, productive manner.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Experience, Education and Training Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A combination of 3 years of secretarial / stenographic / administrative support experience,
  • Experience / training in word processing, spreadsheet, database and other standard computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience working with file management systems
  • Experience working in a high-volume work environment with changing priorities
  • Experience working with the public providing information on a variety of programs
  • Experience transcribing audio dictation


  • keep self-informed on trends and issues in the accounting field through ongoing training and education
  • take on new projects, tasks and training
  • travel if required
