The Attorney General is the legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and is charged with ensuring that the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Attorney General in fulfilling this mandate by serving as legal advisor to government in civil law matters. LSB provides legal advice to government and ensures that legal risks associated with government operations are reduced. LSB’s clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.
As a Legal Assistant you will provide administrative and secretarial services. The Legal Assistant performs specialized, skilled work, including work of a complex nature in Legal Services Branch. This position is responsible for performing a variety of legal support services, with a high degree of independence and under limited supervision, for assigned legal counsel.
The work is carried out in a high-profile and fast-paced office in which flexibility, teamwork, tact, diplomacy, communication and organization are essential for the efficient, accurate, successful and timely completion of responsibilities. The Legal Assistants must work under extreme time-sensitive deadlines that are not within their control and yet be able to produce high-quality work.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, and
- Completion of a Legal Assistant certificate or three years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) training and administrative support/clerical experience within a legal setting.
Preference may be given to applicants who possess:
- Experience using BC Online (including Court Services Online, BC Registry Services) and myLTSA
