In the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General the Corporate Management Services Branch strives to provide excellence in corporate services and partner in both the Ministry of Attorney General’s and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General’s outcomes to benefit British Columbians.  Our mission as a central, consolidated support services team is to support all the program areas and branches. The Branch leads the preparation of budget submissions and financial reporting, and provides oversight, progress reports, and expert advice and performs day to day functions to its clients on finances, strategic human resources, facilities, including Shared Services, business planning, corporate communications and corporate risk and security.  The Branch is also the lead strategic link between its partners and government’s central agencies.

The Internal Communications function, within the Corporate Management Services Branch, supports the ministries’ Service Plan by providing timely and relevant ministry information and updates for staff, to help them do their jobs, know their leaders, celebrate milestones and communicate with each other.

As the Internal Communications Coordinator, you develop sector internal strategic communications plans, prepare communication materials on behalf of sector executive staff, design and maintain the intranet site, and coordinate internal sector events.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Diploma or formal course work in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience writing and editing communications materials.
  • Minimum one year experience using website content management systems, and software that includes the Adobe Suite of programs.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in design and/or videography
  • Knowledge of how to create effective communications strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of engagement principles and tactics.
  • Occasional overnight travel to coordinate and attend major ministry events.
