The Compensation Specialist will provide support with the delivery of compensation programs and processes, salary administration, annual incentive recommendations and annual compensation market review.
Support the design of the compensation philosophy related to the annual salary review, annual incentive programs, promotion recommendation processes for management and non-represented employees
Plan and execute annual merit, incentive and other annual compensation program
Lead regular salary survey and benchmarking market review process
Support the development of material for the Board of Director by creating analysis, presenting findings, making strategic recommendations, developing resources
Work in collaboration with the Compensation team to develop the Compensation Discussion and Analysis section of the annual Management Information Circular
Provide advice and guidance on management compensation offer recommendations
Provide ad-hoc compensation analytics
Support the compensation processes for unionized employees
Conduct research on compensation practices and policies
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or Human Resources or related fields
A minimum of 4 – 6 years’ related human resources with compensation and incentive program experience
Demonstrated knowledge of compensation planning, market benchmarking surveys, pay equity, compensation in a unionized environment, executive compensation, incentive plans, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of compensation and incentive programs, particularly executive compensation
Sound knowledge of human resources theories, principles, and practices, with a focus on Compensation
Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; proficient with PowerPoint and Word
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and skilled in manipulating data
Ability to produce high quality work and manage multiple deliverables under time constraints
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in handling information of a sensitive nature
Experience administering compensation with SAP SuccessFactors is an asset
Excellent communication skills and the ability to summarize information concisely and present in written, graphical and/or verbal format in order to convey complex information to all levels of stakeholders
Proven ability to think conceptually, problem-solve, and generate practical solutions
Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and see those projects through to completion
The ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff to develop strong working relationships with individuals across the company
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excels at building partnerships, both inside and outside the team, and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
