About the Organization

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to servicing the needs of Aboriginal people residing in the Prince George area and improving the quality of life in the community as a whole. Offering a broad range of services, which includes educational, employment, health and social programs, the PGNFC has been providing culturally appropriate programming to meet the community’s unique and diverse needs for over 41 years.
About the Opportunity

The PGNFC is currently seeking a Friendship Home Program Coordinator to join our team in Prince George, BC.

In this varied leadership role, you will supervise the implementation of our six bed, co-ed and long term residency for youth under the age of 19. With a team of six full time employees, you will also form part of the on-call crisis response system.

Primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

– Staff scheduling, training, and support including the provision of day-to-day supervision
– Maintaining linkages with other PGNFC Youth Services and applicable community resources
– Coordinating the delivery of services
– Ensuring integrated case management practice is followed
– Ensuring culturally relevance and community integrated services are implemented
– Developing and implementing a strategic communications plan that encompasses internal/external communication
– Developing and implementing a support plan for support of each youth who reside at Friendship Home to ensure a continuum of care
– Working cooperatively within the PGNFC Management Structure to ensure community accountability, reporting, and support of the services
– Coordinating crisis response services when required
– Implementing data collection and other evaluative systems for the team to ensure performance through the best practices approach
– Ensuring that the provincial legislation under the Community Care Facilities Act is adhered to and that policy development of Friendship Home follows said legislation accordingly
– Strategic Planning and other visionary activities to further develop Friendship Home services
Communicating and coordinating with other youth programs locally, as required

– Performing Human Resources management tasks, including hiring panels, orientation, and management of all employees within the Friendship Home Team as per the policies and processes of the PGNFC
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Degree in Social Work/Child Care combined with previous management experience. You will also have experience in working with Aboriginal children and Families in a cultural context and knowledge in applicable Provincial Legislation.

You will also need to have completed certification in First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe and have a valid Class 4 Driver’s License (or you must be willing to attain this prior to the expiration of the probationary period).
