We currently have an opportunity to join the Laurier community as a Coordinator, Legal Services.
As the Coordinator, Legal Services you will provide a high level of service to internal and external groups in reviewing and preparing legal documents and administration of legal services at Laurier as well as support to the Office of General Counsel.
Review, edit, draft, track and maintain legal documents including contracts, minutes of settlement, memoranda of settlement, licensing agreements, and other legal agreements
Monitor compliance to established policies and procedures and contract terms for a range of legal agreements affecting the university
Work with internal offices in the development, review and revision of polices and processes
Manage compliance reporting requirements out of the Office of General Counsel
Provide project management oversight for a range of short-term and long-term legal projects
Conduct research and provide recommendations on legal assignments and projects
Administer central external legal budget and the processing of external counsel invoices and associated internal cross-charges
Continue to develop and improve systems and processes to effectively organize legal matters, including proactively planning for recurring activities and initiatives
Coordinate a well-organized filing system including administration of a contract management system using university supported software
Maintain and manage document and data management systems for legal documents in accordance with Law Society requirements and internal records management processes
Enhance and further develop the system of precedents and template forms and documents5.Administrative
Manage and support administration of the Office of General Counsel
Provide administrative support to the University Privacy Office
Prepare reports and correspondence
Provide a full range of administrative support for General Counsel
Strong working knowledge of legal concepts, practices and procedures with experience in drafting and administering corporate/commercial and other legal agreements
Exceptional organizational, planning & efficiency skills – ability to organize work, multi-task, create detailed plans, monitor progress, follow-up and meet deadlines
Maintain accurate records and organize all legal documents in compliance with university records management processes and Law Society of Ontario requirements
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Personal accountability and attention to detail and ability to follow through on commitments and projects
Demonstrates initiative and is proactive; ability to work independently, anticipate needs and be forward- thinking
File and data management expertise
Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality at all times
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative and constructive manner with teams and across a range of university departments
Open and flexible with change as this role will continue to evolve
Ability to work with external vendors and consultants to expedite satisfactory project or transaction conclusionQualifications :
University or College level degree in related field
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a law clerk , paralegal, or as a contracts administrator or specialist, required
Law Clerk designation preferred
Advanced Microsoft office skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Grade : EX-G
Salary : $58,199-$72,749
Salary Notes : This is a full-time, continuing position.
