Dental Database Analyst (18 month contract)

The primary role of the Dental Database Analyst is to manage the various dental plan updates, procedure codes and pricing in two separate dental databases referenced by the claim adjudication process. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the dental database activities at ESI Canada. As the Dental Database Analyst you will act as a liaison for dental database issues to the Customer Services Department and the Call Centre. The ideal candidate will serve as a business resource to HCA team for dental plan and database expertise.


  • Manage the dental database by determining the appropriate procedure code inclusions in the Dental Master – identify, update and evaluate new codes and code changes in the source documents
  • Coordinate the tasks required to maintain and update the fee schedule information within the database – develop and document the processes involved.
  • Coordinate data entry tasks, supervise temporary staff where necessary, and prepare the appropriate price files to update the database electronically.
  • Maintain the equivalent codes necessary to satisfy plan requirements and identify new codes in each fee guide and reference the applicable corresponding code
  • Review each current fee guide to identify new codes, code modifications and create a recommendations document for current customers.
  • Determine the appropriate pricing rate for dental codes for each prior fee guide
  • Update all process documents to accurately reflect dental plan and database management tasks
  • Act as a business resource for Health Consulting Administration, Information Systems and Customer Service departments by researching and responding to the dental file and procedure code queries
  • Manage plan update requests as required for various customers


  • 3-5 years relevant dental insurance experience in a claims management environment
  • Demonstrated familiarity with dental practice is an asset
  • Experience with data management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Experience in client service
  • Bilingualism (French & English) is an asset
  • Job requires precise finger/hand movements while working with a keyboard
  • Need to remain at work station for lengthy periods
  • Limited travel required
