Position: Director of Social Development – Full Time Term Employment to March 31, 2017 (renewal dependent upon funding)
The primary responsibility of the position is to provide managerial support in designing structures, systems or processes that promote and aid the formulation, coordination, integration and implementation of programs, services and benefits for Social Development. Additionally, provides technical support by designing structures, systems or processes that promote and aid the formulation, coordination, integration and implementation of programs, services and benefits for First Nations in the area of Social Development Programs on and off reserve, Child Welfare, Jordon’s Principle, and other legislation or policy programs that have a potential to affect First Nations. The position will require the ability to translate recommendations of policies into laws, regulations, strategies, programs or services, as may be required. The position will also require the Director to act as a bridge between the Executive Directors and Front line Social Development staff of First Nations in Saskatchewan who deliver programs and services to Saskatchewan First Nations in the areas of Social Development, and to the legislative/executive arms of the organization and external agencies and internal departmental staff. Will be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of budget proposals; yearly expenditure plans, strategic plans and reporting to funding agencies. Collaborate and work with other senior management staff within the Health and Social Development Secretariat with the overall goal of achieving objectives and goals of the Health and Social Development Secretariat. Fulfill other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
