Part-Time Term Position: September 10, 2018 to June 19, 2020 (Maximum of 980 hours) Norway House, Manitoba

The Position: Norway House Regional Centre is seeking an instructor(s) to teach courses in the part-time Educational Assistant program for the 2018-2020 academic years. The program will start September 18, 2018 and end on June 12, 2020. Year 1 classes will begin on September 18, 2020 and end on June 18, 2019. Year 2 classes will begin on September 10, 2019 and end on June 12, 2010. Classes will be twice a week from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and one/two Saturdays a month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The courses are 515 hours plus 465 hours for course preparation for a total of 980 hours.

A Bachelor of Education Degree and a permanent Manitoba teaching certificate
Must have experience working in a K-12 school system
Must have previous experience supervising Education Assistants in the classroom
Strong communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to understand cultural influences and issues specific to adult learners in Aboriginal and northern communities
Personal experience and/or knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal culture
Manitoba Special Education Certificate
Previous experience programming for Education Assistants
Previous work experience as a Resource Teacher
Previous instructional experience with adults
The ability to speak an Aboriginal language
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must obtain CAE within 5 years of employment
