Jamjar – Folk Lebanese Food ( ) located in Vancouver BC is seeking an Executive Chef (NOC 6321) . It’s a permanent full-time (40 hours per week – day, evening, weekend) position with salary $60 000 per year, 4% paid vacation. Overtimes are paid at 1,5 rate for hours exceeding 40 hours in any given week. Employment location and business location: 2280 Commercial Dr., Vancouver, BC V5N 4B5. We offer extended health benefits.

Start date: As soon as possible

Main responsibilities and duties as an Executive Chef :

  • Direct and supervise activities of outlet chefs and sous-chefs, and other kitchen staff.
  • Plan menus, determine sizes of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs;
  • Create, develop and recommend new recipes and assign prices to menu items;
  • Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods and create decorative food displays for special guests and occasions;
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques to chefs, sous-chefs and cooks;
  • Strive to advance skills and knowledge and consistently share these with others;
  • Maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment and order supplies as required;
  • Ensure all food is prepared fresh and is of the highest qualify;
  • Communicate effectively with all subordinates;
  • Recruit, hire and train staff including cooks, sous chefs and other kitchen staff;
  • Provide regular feedback and performance review to the sous-chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff;
  • Keep track of kitchen expenses;
  • Use financial management skills for budgetary and cost control purposes in order to increase food revenue and decrease kitchen expenses without compromising the food quality.
  • Negotiate food purchases with key suppliers & raw material


  • Must have completed some culinary diploma;
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience;
  • Knowledge of Lebanese Cuisine is a must;
  • Must have strong leadership skills and a solid supervisory/management experience;
  • Must be able to work without supervision and must be capable of independent thinking;
  • Must have excellent problems solving, organization and interpersonal skills;
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
