Reporting directly to the Manager, Facilities Operations under the direction of the leadhand, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks related to the installation and maintenance of door and window hardware, related keying and electronic access systems.

contributes and participates in the effective use of the Quality Control System
sets up lock tumbler mechanism to accommodate new and existing keys
installs doors plus all associated hardware, including locks, panic sets, closures and electronic access systems
repairs and maintains all existing locks, closures and panic sets including installation of electronic access systems and associated hardware
maintains and controls the University’s key data base and electronic access systems
keeps accurate records of new and existing changes to keying and electronic access systems
works with suppliers to expand the key and electronic access systems to accommodate new buildings and renovations to existing buildings
cuts keys for all lock systems on campus
prepares estimates for work orders
requests, orders or picks up required material from suppliers in order to complete the job
requests and keeps an adequate stock of supplies for emergency repairs
performs other related duties
coordinates and works with outside service providers
assists with the design and coordination of new construction/renovations
in emergencies, performs minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
understands and complies with all Departmental Policies and Procedures
demonstrated experience as a locksmith plus a certificate from a recognized establishment as having completed training as a locksmith
currently working in the trade
understanding and ability to set up and maintain a current system to record all plant keying and electronic access systems
understanding of and ability to work with low voltage control circuits
computer literacy, e.g. use of control systems, University computer system, e:mail etc.
must possess a valid Class – G Ontario Driver’s licence
team work – ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision. Shares information with team members. Is collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.

Salary : 33.40/hour
Salary Notes : This is a full-time, limited term position with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2018 until June 6, 2019.
