Exalt HR Consulting is currently recruiting 2 Family Support Workers on behalf of our client NIȽ TU,O Child and Family Services Society.

NIȽ TU,O is a Child and Family Services organization that serves First Nation communities in the Greater Victoria area. It has a unique institutional structure, combining provincial accountability, federal funding, and a measure of operational independence. NIȽ TU,O’s goals are to ensure the safety, protection, and well being of our children in today’s society; working together to maintain the traditional values of the extended family.

As a Family Support Worker, you will be part of a collaborative team, working alongside community designates, staff from the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and delegated Social Workers from NIȽTU,O Child and Family Services Society.

You will provide intensive support services to families referred by MCFD and will assist them in developing their skill and ability to safely care for their children. Your work will involve assisting families and/or youth to navigate the complex service network, reducing any barriers to needed services and supporting families and youth to build connections with culture and community. You will report to a Community Services Manager. The work primarily takes place in the Southern Vancouver Island geographic area.


  • Degree or Diploma in Social Services, or combination of education and experience
  • Two years in a related field working with First Nation children, youth, and parents in a human services capacity
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to write detailed reports
  • Basic knowledge of the Child, Family and Community Service Act, and the understanding of the criteria used to assess risk
  • Experience working with First Nation communities, and knowledge and appreciation of the local First Nation community and culture is considered an asset
  • Valid Driver’s license and a positive driving abstract
  • Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule
  • Must provide a clear Criminal Record check
