First Nations Consultation Officer Bring your strategic orientation and exceptional negotiation skills to this important role

Salary $61,358.64 – $70,016.90 annually

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) plans, develops, and sells through auction, a substantial and representative portion of the Province’s annual available timber volume. The bid prices received from auctioned timber support the Market Pricing System (MPS) in setting stumpage rates for coastal and interior operating areas of the province. The goal of BCTS is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the MPS through auctions of public timber. To find out more about our program check out the BCTS website

The First Nations Consultation Officer’s main focus is leading the Business Area concerning First Nations which includes the planning and facilitation of the First Nations consultation process (i.e. preparation, engagement, accommodation, decision and follow-up) and participation in the negotiation of agreements such as service agreements. This position provides support to the Timber Sales Manager and Woodlands Manager in negotiations involving business to business arrangements; and builds and maintains relationships with First Nations groups and organizations to stimulate information sharing and encourage future economic opportunities and/or partnerships.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Diploma or degree in a field related to the work of the program area with a minimum three years (gained within the past seven) of experience working with First Nations organizations and/or facilitating First Nations consultations.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job
