Business Information: Canadian Fishing Vessel “Amy Usen” producing 100+ Tons of Round Sashimi grade Albacore Tuna. Deep sea fishing in the Pacific by the hook and line jig fishery which has Marine Stewardship Certification. All our products are bled and frozen to -40 C at sea on board the vessel.

Work Location: Canadian and International waters – deep sea fishing Vessel “Amy Usen”.
Type of Employment: Full Time-Seasonal (4-month contract).
Estimated Start Date: Early June, 2024

Job Description:
Prepare nets, lines and other fishing tackle, and operate fishing gear to catch fish and other marine life
Clean, sort and pack fish in ice and stow catch in hold
Repair nets, splice ropes and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment
Clean deck surfaces and fish hold
Handle mooring lines during docking
May steer vessels to and from fishing areas
May prepare and cook meals for crew members.

Requirements:

Education: Not Required
Experience: Experience is an asset. On-the-job training is provided.

A commercial fishing licence is required.

MED A1 is an asset (Marine emergency duties certificate for off shore fishing).

First aid and watch keeping certificates are assets.

Working conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods

Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Language: Basic English is required

Salary:  $35.00 per hour. Salary induces 5% of the gross revenues based on catch, with minimum weekly earnings of $1050 CAD (based on 30hrs X $35.00 CAD). 30-60 hours per week.

Benefits: Free room and board on the boat. Laundry service.

Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required. Workday is variable depending on catch, when fishing is very good, all deckhands will be working, when fishing is slow or non-existent, one deckhand will be on duty while others take time off, therefore schedule will vary according to business needs including weekdays, weekends and holidays. 6 hours minimum per day and 30 per week are guaranteed.

**This position is to work full time on a fishing vessel and we need committed crew to stay on the fishing vessel for the entire season. Please note we cannot interrupt our operations to drop crew on land. Trips at sea can be as long as 2 months. Do not apply if you cannot commit to completing a fishing trip or if you get sick in the sea.
