The Financial and Administrative Services Branch promotes financial accountability and provides expert financial and business advisory services to support staff in achieving the Ministry’s corporate goals and objectives. In the Financial Analyst position, you will be responsible for performing a variety of complex financial duties including but not limited to the analysis of Ministry accounts. Working with the branch’s Financial Services and Facilities and Workplace Solutions teams, you will confirm missing or contradictory information from a variety of established sources and make recommendations for corrections and process improvement. In the Financial Analyst role, you will also be responsible for providing guidance and support to branch and Ministry employees in regard to financial policies. As the ideal candidate, you have a good working knowledge of accounting theory and practices. You are an effective communicator with strong analytical and problem solving skills. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Secondary school graduation plus completed post secondary financial management course work, or related equivalent and a minimum of 1 year related financial work experience.
- Preference may be given to applicants with 2 or more years of related financial work experience.
Related financial work experience must include the following:
- Experience in conducting financial forecasts and analysis and in supporting budget evaluation processes for multiple business areas.
- Experience coordinating the assembly of financial data for budget preparation.
- Experience developing financial statements and reports.
- Experience applying accounting principles and interpreting financial policies and procedures.
- Experience in using complex accounting systems. Preference may be given to applicants with CFS/CAS (Corporate Financial System) experience.
