Stoney Nakoda Child and Family Services is currently seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Foster Care Worker to join our Child & Family Services team in Morley, Alberta on a full-time basis.

In this role, you will ensure the rights and safety of children are safeguarded in a healthy, culturally sensitive environment while endeavoring to preserve the language and culture of Stoney-Nakoda. Specifically, you will provide supervision and support to foster parents to maximize their ability to care for children. You will also be responsible for foster and kinship homes, ensuring standards and policy are adhered to, as per the Child, Youth & Family Enhancement Act, and Policy. You will act in a supportive role ion the event of a facility home investigation.

With proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with caregivers and community partners, you must be flexible enough to deliver foster care training to prospective caregivers and approved foster and kinship homes on evenings and weekends. To excel in this role, you will also demonstrate strong interviewing and assessment skills, as well as excellent problem-solving, mediation and conflict resolution skills.

The ideal candidate

For this role, we are seeking candidates who have a post-secondary degree in Social Work (MSW, BSW or a related diploma) combined with previous experience delivering a variety of services to children and families. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo a pre-employment security screening and must possess a valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. The ability to work a rotating on-call/after-hours schedule is also required.
