ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES

Squamish Nation is currently seeking a Senior HR Generalist and a Human Resources Officer to join the Chen Chen Stway Human Resources Department in North Vancouver on a full-time basis.

SENIOR HR GENERALIST

As the Senior HR Generalist, you’ll provide HR advice and support to management and staff. You’ll be well versed in Squamish Nation policies and procedures and focus on leading investigations, assisting with employee issues, as well as developing and promoting our HR programs and initiatives. Importantly, you’ll be a key contributor to our culture of teamwork, optimism and excellence.

HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER 

As the HR Officer, you’ll be responsible for implementing and reviewing the performance management appraisal program and facilitating related training as well as developing and maintaining the job design and job description inventory. You’ll also provide recommendations on performance management systems and initiatives by staying informed of industry trends and best practices.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATES 

These roles are well suited to candidates with a post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Business Management or a related field from a recognized institution.

Previous experience working with a First Nations organization or community is preferred, ideally Squamish Nation.

You’ll be a great fit for these roles if you have proven ability to make sound decisions and work independently with minimal supervision. Similarly, you’ll also be an intermediate-level user of the MS Office Suite and have experience using large-scale computerized database systems (JD Edwards is an asset).

As your career progresses, you’ll have the opportunity to complete relevant training and education related to your primary areas of responsibility.

Finally, all candidates are required to have a valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle with current auto insurance.  Due to the nature of these roles, a criminal background check is also required.
