AFOA Canada (formerly known as the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada) is the national centre for excellence and innovation in Indigenous management, finance and governance. Established in 1999, the Association is the only organization in Canada that focuses on the capacity development and day to day needs of Indigenous professionals working in all areas of management, finance and governance – today’s leaders and those of the future.
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic candidate to join the Training and Events team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating workshops in support of AFOA Canada’s Indigenous Financial Wellness Program, including; Volunteer Tax Clinics, Financial Literacy Training Sessions and Dollars and Sense Youth Financial Literacy Program, and related support tools.
The Indigenous Financial Wellness Administrator researches and writes all training materials and manuals for the workshops. This position coordinates and conducts facilitator orientation sessions, prepares statistical analysis, as required, and prepares marketing and promotional materials. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the Indigenous Financial Wellness Programs content is up-to-date on the AFOA Canada database and website. This position will be traveling an expected minimum of two trips per month or up to 40% of the time.
THE CANDIDATE: Reporting to the Manager, Training and Events, the Indigenous Financial Wellness Administrator will be a key member of the Education and Training team, bringing knowledge of Indigenous financial wellness and a strong client service focus.
Possess a university degree and 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in a professional office environment is an asset
Intermediate experience working with Office applications (ie Word, Excel)
Intermediate experience working with databases and/or software programs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic mathematical ability is required
Attention to detail, thoroughness and organizational skills
Ability to take direction and be a team player
Additional preference may be provided to those who are fluent in French and/or an Indigenous language
This is a full-time permanent position at the AFOA Canada office in Ottawa, Ontario. An attractive compensation and benefits package is offered for this position.
