Awareness of Indigenous culture;
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field or equivalent proven experience;
Minimum 3 years’ experience in database management systems and user application support, preferably in a non- profit environment;
Superior understanding of database systems;
Skilled in database report writing, queries and exports;
Expert level proficiency with SPSS or other relevant statistical software;
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel and Map Point;
Must display the following competencies: analytical thinking, problem-solving, trouble-shooting, attention to detail, team player, organisational understanding, planning and organising; and
Criminal Reference Clearance (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance are requirements of the employment offer

Planning and Organising
Accuracy and Attention to Detail
Works in a safe and suitable office environment exposed to mid to high level computer use and performs multiple tasks with simultaneous and tight deadlines.
Works a regular 40 hour work week. Evening hours may be necessary to meet work deadlines.
To perform data analysis, support the day-to-day database operational activities and ensures processes are aligned with OFIFC’s long-range strategic plan.
Primarily communicates with the Program Managers and Program Director.
Acts as liaison with Contractors/Suppliers to ensure deliverables are on track and fall within the project scope. Negotiates contracts and services ensuring OFIFC quality standards are reflected in the project throughout.
Data Base Management (65%)
· Assumes primary responsibility for development, implementation and function of Integrated Database through oversight of the database developer contract;
· Identifies database requirements by interviewing Friendship Centre staff; analysing program applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems;
· Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications;
·Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
· Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products;
· Maps out the conceptual design for a database and research tools;
· Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
· Supports database functions by designing and coding utilities;
· Imports data into and exports data out of Integrated Database to other software programs for further data manipulation and reporting, as required;
Communication, Liaison and Support (35%):
Prepares users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems;
Liaises with Research, Policy, and Program departments to assure quality and quantity of information within database;
Incorporates Indigenous trend requirements in programming within database deliverables;
Produces reports for staff, funders, and Friendship Centres as required;
Conducts support visits and provides information and training to Friendship Centres/Delivery Sites as required;
Provides Macro level scope and perspective between Key Performance Indicators and Poverty Reduction/Homelessness Indicators;
Acts as liaison between contracted database developer and OFIFC staff in the identification and approval of required changes to the scope of the Integrated Database development contract;
Maintains and upgrades professional skills;
Promotes a healthy, safe work environment; and
Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned by the Executive Director or designate.
