The Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of the largest distributors and retailers of beverage alcohol in Canada, generating a net income of approximately $1.08 billion on annual sales of approximately $3.3 billion in fiscal 2016/17. LDB has a workforce of approximately 4,000 full and part-time employees, operates 197 retail stores across the province, oversees the operations of approximately 220 Rural Agency Stores and has the role of wholesaler to approximately 700 private liquor retail outlets and 10,000 licensed establishments.

The LDB is a unique government entity that operates with similar independence to a Crown Corporation under the direction of a General Manager and CEO.

The QA Analyst is responsible to lead and/or participate in the testing of new software products and enhancements to existing products and to test and verify application changes and enhancements. On new projects, the QA Analyst performs analysis and develops test plans traceable to requirements.  This position may also be required to develop and maintain test automation scripts and/or framework.

Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, the QA Analyst provides branch wide integrated testing and business analysis activities. The position is also involved in leading or participating in the design, testing and implementation of assigned projects or work requests.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • University degree in one of the following: Computer Science/Engineering or Computer Information Systems and minimum 1 year of general business experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including formal business management courses and/or computer courses plus related experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year recent and relevant hands on experience with test planning, test execution and documenting testing results.
  • Experience with test automation, software development, or programming language such as Java, preferred.
  • Experience with creating, executing, maintaining, and troubleshooting test automation scripts, preferred.
  • Experience with job schedulers such as AutoSys and/or Crystal Enterprise or Oracle Concurrent Manager, preferred.
  • Experience in leading/directing/coordinating software/product test teams, preferred
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of Supply Chain/ Corporate Services applications including purchasing, order capture/commitment, distribution, retail point-of-sale, finance or payroll, preferred.

Knowledge of:

  • Broad knowledge base of software development methodology with emphasis on requirement analysis, test plan and test case design.
  • Working knowledge of Test Automation tools, such as Selenium, HP QTP, TestComplete, Watir, or AutoI, preferred.
  • Familiar with retail operations, wholesale/distribution, and Finance procedures, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the project management process, preferred.
  • Test automation architecture/design/implementation/execution experience, preferred

  • Solid background and experience in effective testing techniques.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal/relationship management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills along with excellent attention to details.
  • Demonstrated abilities in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to apply a broad range of computer technologies and architectures.
  • Ability to develop test requirements and plans in order to support verification of operational software and computer systems.
