The Ministry of Transportation plays an integral role in promoting economic growth and meeting the social needs within the province of BC through the development approval programs it administers.  The Ministry of Transportation is the agency responsible for maintaining and rehabilitating public highways including those dedicated and constructed by subdivision plans and land use applications. The Ministry has a regulatory role established by the Highways Act, Land Title Act, Local Government Act and other statutes.  The Ministry of Transportation works with partners and other levels of government to provide safe, efficient, cost effective movement of goods, people and resources.

In this position you will provide coordination and expertise in installing, testing, tuning upgrading and maintaining shared systems software and hardware, including providing 3rd Tier problem resolution and senior technical guidance to ministry IT staff, users, customers and vendors for line of business applications and hardware.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree or diploma in computer science or a related field and three years of related experience * OR
  • Secondary school graduation and five years of related experience. *
  • *Related experience must include some combination of:
    • Experience in assessing customer requirements, developing and implementing technical and business solutions.
    • Experience using an IT ticketing system.
  • Experience providing Tier 1, 2 and 3 technical customer support.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:

  • Experience in Operational Technologies (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
  • Information Technology Certification program completion.
  • Completion of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation course for service support/service delivery.
  • Use of Atlassian Service Desk or ServiceNow IT ticketing system.
